About the book
You can try to hide your past but everything eventually comes out in the wash.
Synopsis
Clarence Vance had it all figured out. A tranquil retirement in a small 1970s Virginia mountain town, a loving second wife, and a carefully constructed past. But when the beloved truck driver takes his final breath, his perfectly manicured life begins to unravel, revealing a tapestry woven with decades of deceit. His funeral becomes the stage for an explosive truth: two families, two wives, and a hidden son. Clarence’s estranged daughter, Charlene, arrives only to discover her father’s life was a meticulously crafted lie, leaving her to question everything she thought she knew about him. Meanwhile, Betty Ann’s sons are left reeling, forced to reconcile the man they adored with the stranger his secrets expose. The quiet community watches as a lifetime of falsehoods comes crashing down, threatening to shatter the bonds of love and loyalty forged over generations. As the layers of Clarence’s deception are peeled back, the enduring power of truth emerges, forcing everyone to confront the uncomfortable realities of their shared history. What will remain when all the lies finally come out in the wash?
