About the author

Michael J. Tunney writes character-driven fiction about families, relationships, and what happens when people who love one another remember the same story very differently. His debut novel, What Remains of a Father, follows a father trying to understand how his relationships with his children disappeared and what, if anything, he can still do about it. Told through his perspective, the novel explores estrangement, grief, memory, and the uncomfortable distance between what we believe happened and what others may believe happened. Rather than offering easy answers about who is right or wrong, Michael prefers to leave some questions where they belong: with the reader. Born in Connecticut, Michael now lives in Southwest Florida with his wife. What Remains of a Father is his first published novel, but not his last. He is currently working on additional fiction and discovering that writing the next book is apparently what authors do instead of relaxing after finishing the first one. He enjoys connecting directly with readers, especially those drawn to emotionally complicated stories, morally imperfect characters, and books that give them something to argue about after the final page.
